Sydney Sweeney Debuted a Short Black Bob at the 2024 Met Gala

The Met Gala always has a few unexpected fashion and beauty moments. But one look we absolutely did not have on our bingo card for the 2024 Met Gala red carpet? Sydney Sweeney arriving with short, jet-black hair.

Early photos of the Anyone But You star showed her covering the new hairstyle with a custom sheer crystal-adorned veil by Jennifer Behr, presumably to give it a full reveal once she hit the carpet. And that she did: Sweeney stepped out in a baby blue tulle ball gown covered with embroidered flowers by Miu Miu, but all eyes were on her fresh hairstyle. Accessorizing with black opera-length gloves only added to the dramatics.

Now that Sweeney is a Met Gala veteran—having attended in 2022, in Tory Burch, and 2023, in Miu Miu—it makes sense she might want to experiment a bit more with her look. At the moment, it’s unclear if Sweeney actually dyed her hair, or if it’s just a wig to get into character for the occasion. However back in March, she debuted a bob at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party—so it’s not completely out of the question that the look is the real deal.
