Before Teyana Taylor became the performer we all know and love, she starred in MTV’s iconic My Sweet Sixteen, where her knack for fashion and style and her swaggy persona quickly became evident. She has many titles—actor, creative director, singer, producer—but fashion girl has stuck with her the longest. It’s a moniker she proudly flexed at MAC’s Viva Glam Ball last night in NYC.
On June 12, Taylor arrived at the event in honor of MAC’s Viva Glam initiative, which supports gender, sexual, racial and environmental equality. Since 1994, MAC has donated over $520 million and impacted over 90 countries by donating 100% of the proceeds from their iconic Viva Glam lipsticks. In honor of Viva Glam’s 30th anniversary, the brand is raising the bar, hoping to garner another half-billion in donations. The ball marked the momentous occasion and the launch of four new Viva Glam colors. Taylor, who has previously teamed up with Mac to curate her own line of MAC products, showed up and out for the ball.
Her look of choice had a futuristic vibe. The nails may have been outshined by her ravishing bone-straight, knee-length red hair, but they were equally as iconic. Taylor paired medium-length, almond-shaped nails with her outfit. The silver base had two chrome outlines placed within each other and a green gem in the middle. True to Taylor’s ability to execute even the smallest of details, this manicure was super creative.
She wore a metallic strapless Laquan Smith maxi dress with zipper detailing and a matching zipper necklace. She added a silver face chain that added to the otherworldly vibe of her look. Taylor finished everything off with a chunky silver bracelet, a pair of earrings, and silver pumps.
Her hair was laid by the self-proclaimed “lace surgeon” Trjko. He has helped Glorilla, Saweetie, Summer Walker and now, Taylor, achieve undetectable wig styles. Courtesy of her go-to makeup artist Yeika Glow, Taylor went for a super glowy, soft glam. “One thing @yeikaglow gone do is beat that mug and have my soul glow in any weatherrrrrrrrrr!” Taylor wrote on her Instagram story the morning after the ball.
