Lily Collins Just Got a Chic Blunt Bob for Summer

It’s officially summer, and what better time to chop all your hair off than in the sweltering heat? That must have been Lily Collins’ vibe when she decided to switch her long hair for a chic bob that we’d bet would have Emily In Paris‘ approval.

Lily Collins has always embodied cool, French girl energy, on and off screen. She’s a friend of Dior, served as an ambassador for Cartier, and is never one to shy away from a sartorial statement. Combined with the current bob trend taking over this summer (Jessica Biel, Katy Perry, and more have tried the cut), the pairing felt like divine timing. Yesterday, Collins posted a photo of her long hair on Instagram, teasing fans in the caption “Good(bye) hair day,” alluding to the chop to come. And, early this morning, her hairstylist Gregory Russell revealed her new blunt bob.

The 35-year-old’s new blunt bob rested just below her chin. Her hair framed her face and flipped inwards, creating a mushroom silhouette. Collins also opted for a darker color, too. Even as it feels like everyone is going blonde for summer, the actress opted for a deep brown, nearly black color. Jacob Schwartz, who has worked with Lana Del Rey, Margot Robbie, and Bella Hadid, is the hairstylist behind the color.

Post-cut, Russell styled the smooth bob with a flat iron, opting for Pureology’s Style + Protect Volumizing Texture Finishing Hairspray to melt and smooth everything together. For the finishing touch, Russell added Pureology’s Style + Protect Shine Bright Weightless Hair Taming Serum for extra shine.

Collins immediately took the bob to the red carpet for the premiere of A24’s MaXXXine, where she plays a 1980s starlet. For the event, she flipped up the ends and swept her hair into a side part that was giving Old Hollywood glamour.

Collins’ bob press tour is just beginning—with the premiere of Emily In Paris season four later this summer, we can’t wait to see how the actor will continue to style her new cut.
