Cardi B’s New Bixie Cut Is Straight Out of the ’90s

At this point, Cardi B is just as well known for her bold fashion and beauty moves as she is her music.Her avant-garde style choices and risk-taking beauty moments have made her one of the most fun celebrities to look to for inspiration. Her latest hair switch up is no different: the rapper just debuted a pixie cut that looks right out of the ’90s.

In an Instagram story posted on Monday, June 24, the rap star debuted new ear piercings by LA piercer, Harrison Mccall. Cardi’s ear was adorned in dangling cuffs and little studs. Her hairdo was equally striking. She flaunted a side-parted “bixie” cut (that would be somewhere between a bob and a pixie) with lots of layers that created a stacked, voluminous look. A swoop fell over her eyebrow and her ends were lightly flipped at the nape of her neck, which added a cool, chic feel. A staple style for Black women in the ’90s (think Halle Berry in her prime), the short cut accentuated Cardi’s oval face shape. Also seen in the quick video was her soft pink blush and mauve lipstick. She looks good even on an off day.

Cardi has never sheid away from switching up her look. In fact, she’s probably tried every hairstyle there is, and maybe even invented a few of her own. From rainbow-colored side parts to bright red updos, to her signature jet black middle part wigs pressed to perfection, Cardi’s beauty choices emphasize hair’s role as a medium of self-expression and creativity.
