Make no mistake Kaia Gerber is a muse of Hedi Slimane. After all, the all-American beauty and Cindy Crawford mini-me has now officially starred in six advertising campaigns during Slimane’s stint as the creative force behind the LVMH-owned French fashion house. Three years after the celebrated French designer tapped Kaia for Celine’s Summer 2021 campaign offering, Slimane reunites with Gerber with the unveiling of the brand’s latest campaign installment. Captured under clear blue skies down on Malibu Beach in Los Angeles, California the model-turned-actress totes an array of Celine’s Victoire and Triomphe handbag styles and shines a spotlight upon Celine’s Pilates collection for Summer 2024.
Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“Kaia Gerber always looks like a very pretty young girl, and that’s all. Fine for something like Calvin Klein, H&M or Hilfiger, but just doesn’t have the visual depth or glamour for a label like Celine,” shared woemwoem.
Tigerrouge wasn’t exactly jumping for joy either. “When you look back at supermodels – when you look at Gisele Bündchen today – they managed to make the most mundane outfits look a little bit special. Here, not only are the clothes wearing Kaia, they’re pretty bland pieces to begin with. It’s something special to be overpowered by the most basic items of clothing.”
“J.Crew meats Lululemon,” called out Ihhbl.
“This campaign is a non-event,” an unimpressed thiago declared.
Yet not everyone was left so… disenchanted. “Personally, I have been enjoying Hedi Slimane’s Celine advertising campaigns a whole lot over recent seasons and this is no exception. Never minded the sight of Kaia Gerber, so this all sits perfectly well with me. I like the effortlessness of it all, from the nonchalant mood to the minimal beauty styling on Kaia. The portrait photography here are undeniably beautiful,” confessed vogue28.
