Megan Thee Stallion Just Brought Back the Millennial “Pouf” Hairstyle

As a kid in the 2000s who did not know how to do her hair (I still don’t know how to use a curling iron properly), the “pouf” was the preppy-cool solution. All you needed was a few bobby pins to fasten the front pieces of your hair back and voilá, you had a low-maintenance pouf. I never thought I’d see the day that the pouf would make a comeback, but leave it to Megan Thee Stallion to give the millennial staple its much-deserved modern refresh.

The pouf (or the bump) had the 2000s girlies in a hold. Everyone from Beyoncé to Lauren Conrad to Lindsay Lohan wore it, and that’s because it was easy, everywhere, and added a bit of Y2K je ne se quoi that can only be properly appreciated 20 years later. Ahead of Amazon Prime Day, Megan The Stallion starred in a new campaign for the brand, reviving the now-iconic hairstyle.

In the video, the 29-year-old is joined by her dog, 4oe Thee Frenchie, to promote the Prime Day sales coming up later this month. While her dog is awfully cute, our eyes went straight to her hair. Megan styled her platinum blonde wig with a pouf, taking the front pieces of her hair and pinning them back out of her face to create the bump shape. Her take has much more volume than some Y2K examples, giving her look a 2000s-meets-’60s vibe. She curled the rest of her hair in silky ringlets for a glamorous, put-together feel.

She wore a pink tweed matching set (that matched her Frenchie companion) and clear block heels. Her makeup was also straight out of the 2000s as well: She wore frosty eyeshadow, lip gloss, and smoked-out eyeliner.

Millennial side-parts, chunky highlights, side-bangs, and now, the return of the pouf: 2024 is shaping up to be the year with lots of unexpected Y2K hair energy.
