Alexander McQueen Fall 2024 Ad Campaign

Seán McGirr was appointed creative director of Alexander McQueen back in October 2023. The Irish designer, who held the position of head of ready-to-wear at JW Anderson prior to this appointment at McQueen, unveiled his highly-anticipated debut collection for the London-based luxury fashion house during the Fall 2024 season of Paris Fashion Week – to widespread criticism. McGirr’s debut advertising campaign as the creative force behind McQueen has dropped, with the designer relying on Glen Luchford to further display his vision for the brand. The campaign imagery is set against a backdrop of East London and “captures the renegade glamour of the city’s youth”. McGirr’s cast of models (including Bebe Parnell, Canlan Wang, Libby Bennett, Nyajuok Gatdet and Sara Caballero) pose around various different locations within the British capital, captured both in color and in black and white – complete with styling from Marie Chaix.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Not good. The change is indeed valid, but Glen Luchford couldn’t do his magic at McQueen more than he did at Gucci!” voiced DK92.

“Bring Sarah Burton back please. Way too generic,” critiqued Mrs.T.

“McGirr had nowhere to go but up and still managed no better than sideways,” disapproved zoom.

Nevertheless, not everyone was left so unsatisfied. “I’m slightly sold on it,” tourbillions confessed.

“I’m afraid McGirr delivered… something. I don’t hate it. It feels very 2016 in a way,” defended aracic.

“Well McGirr delivered on the campaign. I think these are great, has unsettling energy that has been missing at McQueen,” shared forum member TianCouture.
