Jennifer Lopez Tried Out Summer’s Butter Yellow Nail Trend

There’s nothing wrong with a lowkey manicure—in fact, I often prefer it—but rotating through a handful of neutrals can admittedly feel boring. The solution? Sunshine nails, courtesy of spring and summer’s brightest color trend, butter yellow. Everyone from Kendall Jenner to Selena Gomez and now Jennifer Lopez has tried on the mood-boosting shade, and it’s so easy to re-create at home.

Tom Bachik, J.Lo’s go-to manicurist, posted the multi-hyphenate’s new nail look to Instagram on July 16, calling them her “butter nails” in the caption. Lopez’s manicure captured the summer sun with a soft canary shade of yellow polish.

Soft yellows and pastels like the one J.Lo is wearing is one of the summer’s biggest nail trends. Where a bright neon shade can feel too much and difficult to style, lighter hues are minimalist-friendly while still adding a fun pop of color. Styled with a flouncy floral-printed dress, J.Lo opted for the ideal butter yellow shade (soft, but bright) on an almond shape. It looks as though her nails were topped with a glossy top coat to give them a hint of refined shine.

For whatever summer occasion the 54-year-old was off to with her butter nails, we can guarantee she dressed the part. She wore a slicked-back ponytail that had a glamorous single curl that illuminated her caramel highlights. To complete the look, she wrapped the pony with a piece of hair for a polished finish. Her soft glam makeup was perfect for a summer wedding, or brunch—it included a bronzy eyeshadow, blushed cheeks, a Barbie pink lip, and fluttery lashes.
