Bronzer is by far my favorite product in my beauty bag. It’s such a simple step that makes all the difference. If I need to add a hint of warmth to my complexion, I can dust a bronzing powder over my face and it will look like I’ve spent hours in the sun.
That said, it’s not surprising I have collected an array of formulas from different brands over the years. Yet, no matter how many products I have in my bag, I am always open to welcoming a new bronzer to the bunch—should it meet my criteria. Jones Road The Bronzer first caught my attention when I noticed the range of seven shades to choose from. Ahead, find my full review.
Jones Road The Bronzer
Best for: Safe for any skin type
Uses: Adding warmth, tint, or color correction to the skin
Star Rating: 4.3
Price: $35
About the brand: Founded by makeup artist Bobbi Brown, Jones Road is a cruelty-free cosmetics brand that focuses on safe ingredients to create high-quality products for all skin tones and types.
About My Skin Tone: Warm/Neutral
I relate to people who have a hard time finding makeup shades that work for their skin. In my early years of exploring makeup, I was either wearing tints that were too warm or just didn’t capture my golden undertone very well. Now, I’ve been introduced to brands that are strategic in the shade ranges they develop. I was excited to see how the Jones Road bronzer worked for me after seeing they offered seven different shades.
The Texture: Velvety
The texture of a product is everything to me. You truly experience something when you can use your senses to explore it. The Bronzer has a very fine, velvety texture. I prefer my bronzers to have this texture because they tend to melt easily with my base complexion products. However, I did find that it was easy to kick up powder when dipping a brush into the pigment. I noticed a tiny pile of product around the edges of the palette after a few uses.
The Packaging: Simple and Functional
Not all products need extravagant packaging to pack a punch. I like the simplicity of The Bronzer compact because I can add it to my makeup bag without worrying about it breaking. The pale pink, circular palette opens with ease and closes by magnetic force. Plus, it includes a mirror to help you create your beauty looks on the go.
How To Apply: Placement Matters
Makeup doesn’t have a rulebook, but it’s great to understand what placements work for your face shape when applying certain products. Bronzer is best applied at the high points of your face with a brush. Think about where the sun naturally creates warmth, such as the bridge of your nose, your cheeks, your forehead, and your neck.
The brand also recommends using The Bronzer as a color corrector. For this technique, I’d take a brush and gently apply the powder to areas of discoloration before applying concealer or foundation.
The Result: Sunkissed Makeup
When choosing a bronzer shade, it’s helpful to know the undertones of your skin. Personally, bronzers that have a red undertone will look too harsh for my skin tone. I used the ‘Find My Shade’ function on the Jones Road website and was able to get a feel for which color would work best for me. I ended up going with Cinnamon which complimented my skin nicely.
At first, I applied it to my cheeks, the bridge of my nose, my forehead, and my neck. Then I swiped a little around my eyelids to blend out my natural lid color. The wear is long-lasting. I wore it to work and looked in the mirror eight hours later to see The Bronzer was still doing its job. I did notice that while picking up some of the powder on my brush, it produced more fallout than I’m used to. I found it helpful to use a little product at a time and build up to the pigment I wanted. This way, I could avoid wasting any product.
The Value: Worth the Buy
Jones Road The Bronzer achieves the quality the brand promises. An individual palette retails for $35. Why buy this bronzer when there are cheaper options on the market? If you’re big on textures and prefer to avoid chalkiness, this is a high-quality product to have in your beauty bag.

The Final Verdict
Bronzer is one of the products everyone needs in their makeup routine. When it comes to finding a formula that is blendable, shade-inclusive, and long-lasting, Jones Road The Bronzer passed the test. Trust me when I say that having this product in your beauty bag is like carrying an instant sun-kissed glow.
