Summer is coming to an end, and I don’t know about you, but the hunt for fall nail inspo is officially on. Gone are the days of breezy silhouettes and vibrant nails, as we start to once again think about cozy layers and autumn-inspired manicures. Thus, Selena Gomez’s latest nail choice came right on time.
For Rare Beauty’s collaboration with Sephora at the retailer’s annual Managers Conference, the actor wore her best business casual: a cropped black Chloé blazer, belted Icon Denim jeans, a Saint Laurent belt, and Alaïa pumps. Her look was put together by her stylist Erin Walsh and it exuded founder enegery. “Boss babe doing boss things,” Walsh wrote in the caption of her recap post.
Marissa Marino, the hairstylist behind Reneé Rapp’s blonde shag cut, gave Gomez voluminous curls and curtain bangs. The subtle light brown highlights in her hair, paired with her muted red manicured nails screamed “ready for fall.” The celebrity manicurist behind the look, Tom Bachik, called the Rare Beauty founder’s nails a “custom red hot mani” but the color is actually closer to a brick shade. She wore it with medium-length, coffin-shaped tips. Bachik finished the manicure off with a glossy top coat.
As we all prepare for pumpkin spice season, expect to see your favorite celebrities wearing more transitional manicures with red, orange, and brown polishes–take Sabrina Carpenter’s dark cherry red nails or Gigi Hadid’s reddish-brown “slash” nails at the Deadpool and Wolverine premiere for example. Traditionally, deeper, muted colors are associated with fall, but what’s fun about nails is that you can make up your own rules. Want to put your own spin on Gomez’s look? Try mixing your favorite fall polishes for a custom, seasonal result like hers.
