It’s prime time you began your search for the perfect primer. Really—a good makeup base physically and figuratively sets the scene for your entire look, making sure the rest of your favorite products appear as lovely as they did the moment you put them on, all day long.
But before you set out on your exploration, wait a minute—you might just be in luck. Because Tarte has already searched the world high and low to find some of the key ingredients in thier beloved products (hello, maracuja oil), they’re not going to make you do all that work. Instead, they’re bringing the discoveries to you. On August 21, the brand is launching their newest product, Maracuja Juicy Glow Primer, and it just might be exactly what you’ve been (or were about to be) looking for.
Ahead, everything there is to know about the new launch—including our honest review.
The Inspiration
Tarte’s maracuja line is already beloved, so its only natural for the brand to further expand its offerings. When teasing the launch, Tarte’s official Instagram account said to be ready for “summer skin all year round.” That’s the vision.
Crafted to give you a radiant, natural-looking glow, Maracuja Juicy Glow Primer preps your skin for foundation and extends your makeup’s wear time while also evening your skin tone and diffusing the look of blemishes and texture.
The brand also designed the product with an easy-to-use roll-on applicator to help you dispense product (which is available in four shades—Luminous Peach, Luminous Bronze, Luminous Deep Bronze, and Luminous Rich Bronze) evenly.
The Formula
Like the rest of the line, maracuja oil is a star player here. Rich in essential fatty acids and vitamin C, it aids in the appearance of firmer, brighter, smoother-looking skin.
But that doesn’t mean the other ingredients don’t deserve a highlight. Alongside the famous maracuja, you’ll also find niacinamide (which helps brighten the skin and minimize the look of pores) and birch tree water (which helps purify and hydrate your skin).
The Review
“As a lover of all things luminous, I knew I would be into the glowy finish of this new primer from Tarte, but I was even more pleasantly surprised by the smoothing, glass-like effect it had on my skin. I applied it as a base layer before doing my everyday makeup routine, and it visibly helped my foundation go on smoother and more evenly while leaving behind a subtle dewy sheen. Though the rolling applicator took some getting used to (and I still recommend blending the primer out with a makeup sponge), it made for an easy, mess-free application—and I can safely say I’ve never tried anything like it.” —Jordan Julian, news and deals editor
