Dolly Parton Launches Dolly Beauty

It should come as a surprise to no one that Dolly Parton has always loved makeup. And by loved, I mean absolutely, positively, can’t-live-without-it adored. As a teenager, the country icon famously squished up pokeberries to make lipstick and burnt matches to produce ash for eyeliner.

“The only way I’d be caught without makeup is if my radio fell in the bathtub while I was taking a bath and electrocuted me and I was in between makeup at home,” she once said. “I hope my husband would slap a little lipstick on me before he took me to the morgue.”

With that being said, this news also shouldn’t come as a surprise: On August 22, Parton is officially launching Dolly Beauty. Her first product? The Heaven’s Kiss Lipstick Collection, of course, which will feature four lipsticks in an array of classic, glamorous colors.

Ahead, everything to know about the exciting (as in the world has waited for this forever!!) new launch.

The Inspiration

Unlike so many brands, Dolly Makeup doesn’t need an impressive backstory for us to understand its existence. We know Dolly and we know her love of makeup; it all makes perfect sense.

“For Dolly, makeup has always been more than just a beauty routine; it’s a part of her identity and a symbol of self-expression,” said the brand in a press release. “In interviews, Dolly has shared that she used to sleep in her makeup, fearing that she might need to get up in the middle of the night and didn’t want to be caught off guard. This habit speaks volumes about her dedication to always looking her best, embodying the mantra that beauty is about feeling fabulous, no matter the time or place.”

In her official Instagram brand announcement, Dolly also shared a bit of the inspiration behind the line.

“Today, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of my very own cosmetic line, Dolly Beauty. My collection is all about celebrating your unique beauty and letting your inner light shine,” she noted. In another tease, she wrote that because she feels glamorous on the inside, she wants to look like it on the outside.

There doesn’t need to be anything more to it.

The Product

While the formula has been kept tightly under wraps, we do know a few things about Parton’s new lipsticks. With the names Jolene Red, Honey Plum, Rosebud, and Birthday Suit, the first batch pays sweet tribute to the founder’s music. The packaging is yet another ode to Dolly: each tube is fully bedazzled and covered in rhinestones.

So, what do you think is next for the brand? Nail polish? Pokeberry blush? As it always has been, the world is Parton’s oyster.

“I think I am who I am, and I can expand and I can do more,” Parton previously told Byrdie. “I don’t ever try to outdo anyone else or compete with anyone else. I am my own competition, and I just try to make and break my own records. I’m not concerned about what other people do, I just do what I do best and what I feel in my heart that I need to be doing.”

Whatever it is, we’re ready to be all Dolly’d up.
