We’re Adding Selena Gomez’s “Apricot Satin” Emmys Manicure to Our Fall Mood Board

When you hear the words “wet nail look,” you might think of a manicure dripping in something, a lá Kim Kardashian’s wet Met Gala dress, or a faux wet hairstyle. However, manicurist Tom Bachick dreamed up a new take on faux wet glam, re-inventing the wet nail look on Selena Gomez for the 2024 Emmys.

On Septemeber 15, Bachik posted a breakdown of the look (plus, BTS photos of Gomez in her elegant glam) to his Instagram. “Taking from summer’s soap nail trend, we took it one step further for the Emmys with nails that appear so glossy and still look wet,” he wrote in the caption. The result? A surprisingly low-key manicure that’s perfect for any season, but especially fall.

Bachik prepped her nails using his Tweezerman Ultimate Nail Care Set, and chose a “soft almond” shape to get a “movie star vibe.” Then he applied the Kokoist Mega Stick Base before painting on the brand’s Apricot Satin polish, a peachy nude, to match Gomez’s skin tone. “Using a magnet, I pulled all the shimmer to the outside edge creating depth and a “still wet” highlight,” said Bachik in the caption. “Then I increased the gloss with a thick coat of Kokoist Ultra Glossy Non-Wipe Top Coat.” It created the prettiest neutral manicure that reflected a pretty, wet-like shimmer in the light to match the actor’s gem-encrusted gown and diamond jewelry.

To finish the look, Bachick applied the Rare Beauty Find Comfort Hydrating Hand Cream and re-hydrated her cuticles with Chanel’s Huile de Jasmin face oil.

Iocnic movie stars, glamour, and Hollywood were the theme of the red carpet last night, with Gomez’s look as the perfect head-to-nails example. Her hair, crafted by Marissa Marino, was styled silky straight with extra gloss, with the vibe being “effortless elegance.” Makeup artist Hung Vanngo completed the look using Rare Beauty to craft a signature nude soft glam, worthy of the big screen.

Gomez has been opting for more low-key nail looks as of late, and her glossy nude look for last night’s ceremony is just another example. To get the look at home, follow Bachik’s how-to and opt for extra-gloss and shiny topcoats.
