Anok Yai US ELLE August 2024

Subsequent to being installed at the top job at American ELLE in 2017, Nina Garcia has regularly gave up the cover of the magazine to actual fashion models. Believe it or not, models are somewhat of a rarity across mainstream American fashion titles. During Garcia’s tenure, we’ve bared witness to the likes of Vittoria Ceretti, Irina Shayk, Grace Elizabeth, Kaia Gerber, Adut Akech, Bella Hadid, Gisele Bündchen and Gigi Hadid (to name just a few) become ELLE cover girls. Added to the list for August 2024 is Anok Yai.

The Egypt-born American beauty, who is of South Sudanese descent, is having quite the year. Yai has added covers of British Vogue, Vogue Japan, Harper’s Bazaar and Numéro to her ever-growing portfolio this year. Not to mention, becoming the face of mega brands like Prada, Fendi (twice), Marc Jacobs and H&M (also, twice).

Via the lens of photographer Mario Sorrenti, Anok Yai joins HoYeon Jung as ELLE‘s August 2024 cover star. In the recently-unveiled cover image, the industry fave is captured by Sorrenti in a mashup of head-to-toe pieces from the Fall 2024 Prada collection.
