Anyone who has been following the actor knows that Ayo Edebiri is on her way to fashion superstardom. From her street style to her red carpet looks—like her blooming Loewe gown at the Met Gala—there’s no doubt her style moments are worthy of the spotlight. But, there’s one thing we’d wish everyone would pay more attention to: her nails. At the premiere of Inside Out 2, her blue short suit was incredible, but her nails are up there as some of the best we’ve seen all year.
On June 10, Edebiri attended the premiere of her new Pixar film Inside Out 2. In the movie, the actor plays the emotion Envy alongside co-stars Amy Poehler as Joy and Maya Hawke as Anxiety, and we’ll admit, we were very envious of her cool manicure. If you watched Dragon Tales as a kid, you might remember the dragons’ magical rainbow scales. It was as though that was the reference photo to create the 28-year-old’s nails.
Crafted by manicurist Eri Ishizu, Edebiri’s iridescent manicure was painted on her natural nail shape using products from Aprés Nails. Ishizu started by applying a clear coat, using Morning Sighs, and then marbled the colors Royal Stamp, In The Navy, and Clear Base to create all of the glassy rainbow colors. She applied a top coat and shimmery powder, molding the nails to create the 3D droplet effect. Each of the characters in the film are defined by different colors and her nails felt like a sweet little nod to that. They’re also just gorgeous, period.
For the event, she was styled by Danielle Goldberg and wore a custom Bottega Veneta capri suit in a pretty soft baby blue shade paired with black peep-toe heels. Wispy curtain bangs framed her face and her hair was styled in loose waves courtesy of Miles Jeffries.
Celebrity makeup artist Ernesto Casillas revealed on his Instagram that he used MAC products to create her makeup look. A champagne-colored eyeshadow glittered on her lid and was accented with long lashes courtesy of the Mac Stack Mascara. Coral blush highlighted her cheeks, and Casillas used Mac’s Studio Fix Foundation and the Hyper Real Serum to craft her glowy complexion. He finished the look with the Macximal Silky Matte Viva Glam Lipstick in the nude shade Viva Equality.
Now you know, Ayo Edebiri is a manicure muse. Next time she steps out in custom Bottega, pay close attention to her nails—it might inspire your next trip to the salon.
