It’s not a proper Fashion Week without an appearance from Bella Hadid. Ahead of the Paris shows, the supermodel arrived in the city on September 24, wearing a chic model-off-duty look and hairstyle that felt so Bella Hadid-coded. Rather than opt for the classic slicked-back bun, Hadid re-imagined the hairstyle with her quirky-cool charm.
A ballerina bun can sometimes make me more like an egg than a supermodel. Don’t get me wrong—the hairstyle is an easy one-and-done fix to always looking polished, but sometimes, it’s just missing something. Hadid might’ve found the missing piece: She styled the look in a side part, adding some much-needed movement to the sometimes flat style.
Typically, a ballerina bun is parted down the center with the front pieces added last or left out to frame the face. This time, however, Hadid opted to part all of her hair to one side, creating a deep side part. The rest of her hair was tied back with some strands left out for a messy, undone appearance. The result? A high-fashion, Bella Hadid spin on the formulaic look that made for a more modern silhouette and added some cool texture.
The 27-year-old’s glam was simple and easygoing, complete with rosy cheeks and a matching glossy lip. Black rimless sunglasses covered her eyes and matched her Matrix-esque outfit. The model styled leather-on-leather, wearing a black leather coat over a tan matching skirt and jacket set by With Jéan, leather boots, and a matching tote bag. Worn with the sleek bun, you’d think she was headed on a secret spy mission.
Hadid always finds a way to make casual looks feel new and fun, and her side-part ballerina bun is just another example. Next time you find yourself wanting to switch up the easy style for a night-out or dinner date, try it Hadid’s way by parting your hair to one side and pulling the rest back into a messy bun.
