Blake Lively’s “Micro Garden” Manicure Is Giving Lily Bloom

It seems like the method dressing trend is not slowing down anytime soon, at least if Blake Lively has anything to do with it. Last week she dressed up as a sexy Dedpool in a red Versace catsuit to support her husband, Ryan Reynolds, at the Dedpool & Wolverine premiere, but at the after party she quickly switched gears to subtly channel her It Ends With Us character, complete with a 3D rose dress and matching mani.

It looks like floral nails are about to be a running theme in the press tour, as on July 31, Lively embarked on a day of press events with three different garden-themed outfits and a mani to match. In the film adaptation of the Coleen Hoover novel, Lively plays florist Lily Bloom—double flower power—who is navigating a love triangle and toxic relationship.

To go with her looks, all by NYC designer Dauphinette, Lively’s go-to nail artist Elle Gerstein created an intricate “micro garden” manicure. “This nail look was an incredible collaborative design with Blake, inspired by her character and chosen outfits for her press day,” said Gerstein. “[Essie’s] Chiffon the Move was the perfect base in creating a striking contrast with the nail art. The micro-floral design pays homage not only to her character’s career as a florist, but also to the themes of growth, resilience, and the beauty that can emerge from life’s challenges. We had an amazing time mixing shades of nail polish to add depth and detail to the overall design.”

Lively’s manicure was done on what appears to be her natural nails, which were shaped into a medium-length almond. Gerstein applied a coat of Essie Gel Couture in Chiffon the Move to serve as a milky backdrop for the garden. To create the intricate florals that encircled Lively’s nails, she blended a mix of  Essie’s Gel Couture in All Checked Out and Blanc and the brand’s Nail Art Studio polish in Blush Jelly. Then, she added the leaves with the brand’s polish in Off Tropic and Willow in the Wind.

For a bit of sparkle, the nail artist then added some gold foil scattered across the manicure. She finished it off with a glossy coat of  Essie’s Gel Couture Top Coat, and a dab of the brand’s cuticle oil, and Lively was ready to hit the streets in her floral finest.
