One week after Paris Fashion Week came to an almighty close, Hedi Slimane is attempting to keep the fashion momentum alive and kicking, with the unveiling of his latest Celine collection for the Fall 2024 season.
Standard practice with Slimane, zero buzz-worthy runway spectacle took place but instead a short film was released to declare the collection’s arrival. Staged within a handful of famous Parisian venues, including the Salle Pleyel concert hall, La Maison de la Chimie and the Musée Bourdelle, models strolled the lavish surroundings dressed in Slimane’s collection which is an ode to the late Richard Avedon. Slimane’s latest, titled “La collection de l’arc de triomphe,” is also an homage to the 60s which the French designer refers to as “the golden age of Celine” and presented a lineup of A-line silhouettes (with razor-shop precision), go-go boots, vibrant patterns and statement sunglasses – a whole new take on the babydoll look. A total of 20 one-of-a-kind couture looks were splashed throughout the offering, in addition to the ready-to-wear looks.

“The video is very leché, impeccable location and strong separates. No wonders Celine is growing. Hedi knows how to sell.” [GivenchyAddict]
“Audrey Hepburn via Givenchy, this will sell.” [Grets]
“Bravo! A very confident collection. Reminds me a bit of that period (early 2000s) when Karl Lagerfeld was REALLY into Hedi. There’s nothing really new and not a lot of actual design but there are wonderful separates and dresses, accessories and shoes. I’m not the biggest fan on the 1960s or Hedi but he created a great collection.” [reese06]
“Gorgeous fashion after a very boring fashion week!” [Tchi]
“I think this is a wonderful collection. Hedi finally did some designing here and the results are true to the classical approach he laid out for Celine, while providing enough news to move the narrative forward! I see a lot of 60s Cristóbal Balenciaga, with the block-heeled patent boots, embroideries, necklines and hats really nailing that. Similar to Balenciaga Fall 2006, which also drew heavy inspiration from that time. Celine really needed a collection that delivered a super-precise fashion statement and this show delivered that perfectly.” [tricotineacetat]
“Gorgeous collection. I think this is the first time I really like Hedi’s Celine. Very ladylike and elegant. I really didn’t expect Hedi to create something like this.” [pradn]
“Mary Quant mixed with Belle de Jour. Love this uniform vibe!” [kasper!]
“This man is an executive’s dream designer. He makes you want the bags, the glasses, the shoes, the clothes. I know some people don’t like Hedi but I find his offerings sooooo desirable.” [plentyofhorns]
“Razor-sharp tailoring and direction on this collection, but this is always the case with Hedi. One of his best at Celine. The set and the video are amazing, all the references to the Grand Couturiers are spot on as well.” [dontbeadrag]
