Dove Hair’s 12 Best Products—From Shampoo to Scalp Serum

Dove is one of the most iconic beauty brands, dating back nearly 70 years. While it is most known for its bodycare products (like the Beauty Bar or Deodorant Stick, for example), Dove has also successfully carved out a niche in the hair care market. From shampoos to styling treatments, Dove aims to provide affordable, high-performance products for all. 

“Dove is committed to making effective, science-backed hair care products universally accessible to everyone,” Unilever North America’s beauty and wellbeing chief operating officer Brian Kennedy says. “Our goal is to formulate products for all hair types and textures—from cropped to silver, curly to color-treated—so they can confidently wear their hair however they choose.”

While Dove’s journey began in 1957, it wasn’t until several decades later that the brand ventured into the hair care market. “We launched our first hair product in the US over two decades ago in the early 2000s, and since, we’ve continued to build upon 67 years of science and expert care to offer cutting-edge hair products like wash and care, wet and dry stylers, and scalp solutions,” Kennedy says. 

To Kennedy’s point, Dove offers a wide range of innovative collections tailored to specific hair needs. Bond Strength is the brand’s most recent release, a four-step routine focusing on repairing hair damage. “Our new Dove Bond Strength collection is backed by more than 10 years of research and powered by Dove’s proprietary Bio-Protein Care and peptides using a combination of three patented technologies that replicate the action of lost protein–ultimately strengthening bonds inside the deepest microscopic level of the hair,” Kennedy explains. “It’s a breakthrough collection that can reverse three years of damage.” 

Aside from bond building, Dove is deeply invested in scalp care and launched its Scalp + Hair Therapy range in early 2024. Featuring everything from a scalp serum to a thickening spray, this line is all about caring for your hair from root to tip. “We know that scalp health is a vital step in our hair health routines,” Kennedy notes. “We introduced the Dove Scalp + Hair Therapy Collection earlier this year with the goal of offering clinically proven solutions to all amid an ever-growing conversation regarding the connection between scalp health and hair health.”

Throughout its 20-year history, Dove has also genuinely prioritized diversity and inclusion, creating thoughtful collections for consumers with textured hair. The brand’s Hair Love collection is one shining example, offering natural hair products for children of color. “As part of our Dove Kids Care offerings, we partnered with award-winning filmmaker, director, and producer Matthew A. Cherry on the Dove Hair Love collection,” Kennedy says. “The products are gently formulated for children ages 3-10 years with curls, coils, and waves to encourage them to love and embrace their natural hair.”
