You will always and forever, here on theFashionSpot, hear us applauding magazines who champion homegrown talent. Whether it’s Penélope Cruz fronting her umpteenth cover of Vogue Spain or Harper’s Bazaar France endorsing French icons as their cover stars – we applaud such moves. Therefore, you can imagine our delight to see Elle Macpherson grace the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Australia & New Zealand – Macpherson’s first since the 2021 relaunch. Almost a whole four years after her last, the Australian icon and one of the country’s most prolific modeling exports poses for photographer James Tolich. In the nonchalant cover photographer, Elle poses barefoot dressed in a look from Sabato De Sarno’s debut Spring 2024 Gucci collection, selected for the occasion by stylist and Bazaar editor-in-chief Jillian Davison.
Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“Not good,” immediately voiced signifier.
“Not good at all. Why cover the face?” asked BalkaniStaCouture.
Kaze confessed: “It needs some work. Not one of Elle Macpherson’s best covers.”
Bertrando3 was far from impressed with the team’s seemingly best efforts, commenting: “WHAT THE ACTUAL F*** ? Are they drunk, trolling around with this as a cover image ? She is barely recognizable! I’m lost for words. Such a bleak image. Nothing works!”
“Nothing was ever going to compare to Elle’s flawless and fresh cover of Harper’s Bazaar Australia from June/July 2015. However, I don’t hate this. Yes, I wish Elle’s face wasn’t so obscured but I’m just here for Macpershon back on the cover of an Aussie fashion title…” shared vogue28.
