The less-is-more approach on the red carpet is more popular than ever, and when it works, it really works. The latest example? Hannah Einbinder, who graced the 2024 Emmy Awards red carpet in a statement gown paired with thoughtful but simple glam that had “Art Deco” influences.
On September 15, the buzzy awards ceremony took place in Los Angeles, with shows like The Bear, Shōgun, and Hacks sweeping the categories. Einbinder, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks, arrived in monochromatic glam, inspired by the architecture of her chic rose-gold custom gown. Her makeup artist gave us all the exclusive details on her red carpet look.
Einbinder’s glam for the night was ethereal and blushed, taking inspiration from her draped custom Louis Vuitton dress. Her makeup artist Molly Greenwald shared with Byrdie that the vibe of her makeup was “minimal and structured to lend to the art deco feel of the custom Louis Vuitton.” Greenwald told Byrdie she wanted to keep the tones warm to compliment the rose gold fabric.
“Skin prep is everything,” Greenwald shared, “It’s always the most important step to having a healthy plump glowing base.” For Einbinder, Greenwald opted for the Blue Lagoon BL+ Serum and BL+ Eye Serum for lightweight hydration all over the face, plus, “plenty of lip balm.”
To get the actor’s pared-back and natural-looking base, Greenwald focused on adding concealer before foundation, using the Kevin Aucoin Etherealist Super Natural Concealer. “I prefer to always start with concealer strategically where needed (around the nose, eyes, mouth, and blemishes),” she said. Next, she mixed a light layer of foundation with an illuminator to let “the natural feel of the skin come through while covering only what’s needed.” After applying Einbinder’s base, Greenwald finished the look with Kevin Aucoin’s Color Stick to add her “fresh flush” and added a swipe of Kevin Aucoin’s Velvet Lip Paint in Enchanting. The very finishing touch was some Blue Lagoon Body Oil for healthy-looking skin.
Einbinder’s short strawberry-blonde lob was the perfect golden pairing to her look, and it was styled by Jerrod Roberts in simple crimped waves. Her hair looked as though it was draped in place, similar to the pleats in her dress.
Pretty and simple, Einbinder’s look is the perfect transitional glam that we’ll be re-creating the next time we need a red-carpet-worthy makeup look.
