Hourglass Just Dropped Its Highly-Anticipated Holiday Palettes, and They’re Bound to Go Viral

We all know the movie trope of a parent running around to buy their baby’s dream toy and finding it sold out everywhere, right? There comes a time in life when you feel like both the kid and the parent in this situation; even though your happiness might depend on that very specific viral lipstick shade there’s truly nothing you can do to get your hands on it… except maybe befriend the person behind the beauty counter and have them text you when there’s a restock?

Seriously: When it comes to procuring certain holiday or special-edition products, if you’re not early you’re late. And if the thing you have your eye on has already cemented its viral status in years past? Honey, I hope you pre-ordered. Such is the case with Hourglass Cosmetics’ limited-edition holiday palettes, which sold out within four (!) days of launch last year only to sell out for a second time just two weeks later, way before what you might call the “holiday season.”

The good news? As of today, they’re back. And you just might have a chance at getting your hands on one this time. Ahead, everything to know about this year’s range of Hourglass Cosmetics Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked palettes—including the new shades available.

The Palettes

This year, for the first time ever, each of the three new six-pan palettes includes five brand-new shades (you’ll find finishing powder, blush, bronzer, and highlighter) of Hourglass’ signature Ambient Lighting Powders. They can be used on their own or “layered together for a soft-focus, multidimensional glow.”

In the Dragon palette, you’ll find the Divine Light Finishing Powder, the Peach Fusion blush, the Mauve Haze blush, the Soft Bronze bronzer, and the Sunlit Strobe Light highlighter. The Evil Eye palette offers the Pink Fusion blush, the Oasis Glow blush, the Vibrant Coral blush, the Natural Bronze bronzer, and the Rose Gold Strobe Light highlighter, and the Lotus Flower palette introduces the Red 0 blush (featuring the industry’s first-ever vegan replacement for carmine!), Desert Flush blush, the Bronze Heat bronzer, the Gilded Strobe Light highlighter, and the Radiant Rose Strobe Light highlighter.

To get you into an even more cheerful mood, the vegan and cruelty-free brand is also launching limited-edition Veil Travel Powder Brushes featuring matching Evil Eye and Dragon designs. They’ll help you pick up (and disperse) the perfect amount of powder.

The Design

As fans know, the beauty of these palettes lies is their versatility. That’s inner beauty, though—they’re oh so pretty to look at on the outside, too. Once again designed by London-based artist, Katie Scott, the palettes each capture a symbol of good fortune: the dragon, the lotus flower, and the evil eye.

“This year, the illustrations were designed to infuse positivity into your makeup ritual, unlocking luck, abundance and protection every day. I took inspiration for these designs from ancient myths to tell the story of each symbol and what they represent,” explained Scott in a press release. “The Dragon epitomizes power and good fortune, The Evil Eye is a universal metaphor for being perceptive and mindful of the energies around you to embrace positivity and bring good luck, and The Lotus Flower, known for its ability to calmly rise above muddy water, is a token of enlightenment and spiritual awakening.”

What’s more? Five percent of net proceeds supporting the Nonhuman Rights Project’s mission of unlocking the cages of wild animals around the world.

Good luck and a good deed? It looks like Christmas came early, after all—let the shopping commence.
