The One Thing
Our series, The One Thing, is a Sparknotes version of the products, rituals, and moments your favorite celebrities and influencers swear by—their go-tos, must-haves, and can’t-live-withouts. So go ahead—take a brief, intimate peek into the lives of your favorites through the things (and people, and moments) they hold dear.
Jennifer Aniston’s routines are the stuff of celebrity lore. For decades, fans of the actress have followed along with her fitness and nutrition tips. I personally once spent an entire week mimicking her morning meditation-smoothie-workout regimen—hoping to get my version of the Aniston glow. But after 30 years of grinding in the spotlight (and looking irrefutably great while doing it), Aniston’s approach to caring for herself has changed. These days, feeling good is her top priority.
At 55, Aniston’s career hasn’t slowed down. She runs her hair care brand, LolaVie, leads a production company, and is about to start filming the fourth season of The Morning Show. However, her day-to-day routines certainly have changed. Instead of pushing her body to its limits, she’s embraced softer living just like the rest of us—especially in the context of her fitness routine. Two years ago, she swapped her heavy weights in favor of P.Volve’s low-intensity sculpt-based workouts. After falling in love with the fitness brand’s gentle approach, she partnered with the brand as an ambassador one year ago and is now helping them launch a limited-edition equipment bundle featuring all her favorite gear.
From fitness to hair care, Aniston has pared all her routines down to the essentials that leave her feeling like the best version of herself. Ahead, she opens up about the wellness and beauty practices she swears by.
The One Piece of Advice She’d Give to Her 25-Year-Old Self
“Don’t beat your body up physically. Take it easy. It will serve you in the long run—this is your only body. Honestly, I wish I’d discovered P.Volve in my 20s and 30s because I really banged up my body with running at ridiculous speeds, CrossFit training, [and other workouts]. My physical therapist used to say I was her job security. She gave me a Barbie doll with Kinesio tape on every injury she’d treated me for over the last sixteen years, and the whole doll was covered in tape. But with P.Volve’s low-impact, functional fitness, you get a major bang for your buck and don’t get injured.”
The One Workout Move She Swears by
“Anything that involves a plank and gliders is good. These moves work your core, glutes, and legs—they tick every box in the ‘full body’ department.”
The One Piece of Athleisure She Can’t Live Without
“A good sports bra to keep these babies intact. I love Alo, but the one I’m wearing now is one of my favorites—it’s from Beyond Yoga. [It’s their SpaceDye Racerback Cropped Tank ($68)] ”
The One Thing She Does To Keep Her Hair Healthy
“I try to stay away from heat. Hair dryers, flat irons, and curling irons will destroy your hair, and that’s coming from someone who knows. When you’re overprocessing, overcoloring, or shooting every day and getting blowouts, it damages your hair. So, I resist heat as much as possible and use a great, healthy shampoo and conditioner along with the LolaVie Weekly Hair Mask ($35).”
The One Self Care Practice She Swears By After Work
“After work, I come home, plop on my couch, and let my dogs lick me and cover me with love—that’s always the first thing. But then I try to stay off the computer as much as possible and get into a better brain space with a show or a movie. In general, my most important self-care practice is staying off of my screens and trying not to digest the news as much as I can. There’s too much information coming at us all day, and I don’t think our brains are designed for this kind of information intake. It sounds cliché, but if I consume too much, my stress levels go up—so my self-care is trying to limit my information intake as much as I can without being left in the dark, which is a lot easier said than done.”
The One Thing She Values Most in Her IRL Friendships
“The one thing I cherish with my friends is that there’s 100% transparency and honesty. There’s a no BS rule in my friendships, so open communication is key.”
The One Thing She’s Looking Forward to This Summer
“I start shooting The Morning Show in July, so that will be my summer. I’m going to go on a little vacation before I head into shooting, but I haven’t figured out where yet. I’ll definitely be going somewhere, though.”
