Joey King Debuted a Chic Micro Bob to Close Out Cannes

Hair transformations between events aren’t anything new (hello, Kim K!), but that doesn’t make them any less exciting. However, very few celebs actually change their hair in the middle of an event, which is what made Joey King’s dramatic bob at the Cannes Film Festival so exciting.

King attended the festival on May 24 wearing a gorgeous blue gown and her hair in long mermaid waves. However, on May 25, King arrived on the red carpet for the festival’s closing ceremony with a totally new look. Sean Baker’s Anora took home the prestigious Palme d’Or award, but if we could create a special award for the 24-year-old, it would be “Best Hair Transformation.” Her look featured a custom canary Miu Miu gown but her shorter hair was immediately noticeable. She debuted what her hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos called a “Prada bob.”

King’s “Prada bob” sat just below her ears and was styled to slightly flip up at the ends. It had a blunt, A-line shape that was super sophisticated. She kept her natural color, and her new short cut illustrated the dimension of blondes and browns in her hair. Millennial side parts are making a comeback on the red carpet this year and King kept the streak alive, parting her hair to the the left for a French vibe.

As for makeup, she had a radiant complexion with the tiniest touches of pink blush and a wash of highlighter. Her dramatic cat-eye liner caught our eye immediately as the centerpiece of her glam. The rest of her makeup was kept simple and pared back.

The Kissing Booth actress was a guest of L’Oreal Paris, so her makeup was courtesy of the brand. Although we don’t have the exact breakdown for her last-day glam, we do know that earlier in the festival she used classics such as the Infallible Foundation ($17) and the Infallible Full Wear Waterproof Concealer ($15).

Her Miu Miu gown was the perfect butter yellow shade and was detailed with a sweetheart neckline with capped sleeves. The addition of black sparkly opera gloves elevated the look, along with her chic bob. Earlier in the festival, King attended the La Plus Precieuse Des Marchandises (The Most Precious Of Cargoes) premiere in a similarly stunning sheer baby blue gown from Cong Tri. She wore a similar soft-glam look and a side part.

We won’t say we told you so, but the bob is shaping up to be summer’s biggest hair trend thanks to King and company.
