Kaia Gerber’s Soft Curls Are The Ultimate Easy Summer Hair Inspo

Kaia Gerber has her personal style down to a science. It’s hard to toe the line between a wardrobe that is both easygoing and elegant, but the 22-year-old does so effortlessly (I guess that’s what happens when your mom is Cindy Crawford). She’s an ambassador for Celine but is known for her model-off-duty style (she loves a Birkenstock clog, Brandy Melville sweatpants, and a simple manicure), and this fun juxtaposition is what makes her feel relatable. And, while you won’t catch us carrying around a Triomphe bag anytime soon, we will be copying Gerber’s latest look all summer long.

Styling your hair in the summer is kinda the worst. It’s humid, which makes strands more susceptible to frizz, and more importantly, it’s hot. Easy styles that require minimal effort are inevitably what we’re after, and Gerber’s loose waves are the perfect inspiration. For an event with her book club, Library Science, she dressed up with the prettiest, easygoing curls that we’ll be copying all summer.

On June 5, Gerber’s hairstylist Bryce Scarlett posted some behind-the-scenes close-ups of Gerber’s hair. Her dark brown hair—which was just made even darker by her go-to colorist, Jenna Perry—rested on her shoulders in waves that framed her face and curled inward. They weren’t beachy, but they looked effortless, like she slept in a braid and then went on her merry way (although, we know the style may have taken a bit more effort to achieve). In short, her tousled waves feel like the ultimate, laidback summer hairstyle.

Her glam was just as minimal yet put together. If anyone is the queen of no-makeup makeup it’s Gerber. In the photos, you can barely tell that she’s wearing anything. Props to her makeup artist Yukari Obayashi, who gave the model a matte but not flat complexion. It looks like Gerber also wore the tiniest bit of blush, mascara, and a barely-there lipstick.

Gerber is so chic that even her curls give model-off-duty energy. While her shiny, flawless hair is done professionally, we’d wager you can get the same look at home with a large-barreled curling iron and frizz serum. For summer soireés, days at the beach, and everything in-between, we’ll be styling our hair like Gerber’s throughout the summer and beyond.
