Kate Hudson is in stepping into the role of rockstar, and she’s fully embodying her new era. With her debut album (!), Glorious, set to release May 17, the actor has been hard at work amping up excitement. And in case you haven’t yet heard or seen her do her thing, she has both the voice and the look down.
On May 2, Hudson appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon as both a guest and performer. Swapping between two different outfits to fit her two different job descriptions for the evening, she kept her hair the same, wearing it down, volume-less, and very undone à la the ’70s performers who came before her.
Besides the wearer, the real star here is the hair’s length. Appearing a little longer than normal (maybe a few inches were added via extensions?) Hudson’s layered blonde locks trailed down to her waist as she whipped them around to the music. With dark roots peeking through her middle part, her hair also featured a good amount of natural-looking wave courtesy of hairstylist Jacob Rozenberg. Makeup artist Quinn Murphy finished the job with a smoky eye and pink lip.
Layers and texture aside, the real Stevie Nicks comparisons come in when you look at Hudson’s outfit. The white lace-up Roberto Cavalli dress that she wore to perform her song “Gonna Find Out” featured a feathery, flowing cape attached to the sleeves, which she absolutely made use of. Her second look consisted of a monochrome brown leather skirt and velvet long-sleeved top, which she accessorized with gold jewelry.
Naturally, the comments on Hudson’s Instagram post showcasing her performance were full of nods to Almost Famous (and her take on “You’re So Vain” in How To Lose a Guy In 10 Days, obviously). “Penny Lane IRL and I’m HERE FOR IT!!! Incredible!!!” wrote one fan, while another joked that “Stillwater is opening up for Penny Lane now.”
Yeah, they better be. Penny Lane is a full on star now, and her hair is still amazing.
