Kendall Jenner Just Went ’90s Blonde for Fall

Babe, wake up! Kendall Jenner just went blonde. This is a real conversation I just had with my boyfriend, but it applies here too. Yes, you read that right: Jenner swapped her signature chocolate brown color for a champagne shade for one of her most dramatic hair changes yet.

On September 11, Jenner posted a slideshow of photos to Instagram, as per usual. But, it wasn’t her typical dump of curated selfies—the model revealed that she’d dyed her hair blonde, captioning the post “Blonded.” For whatever reason she decided to make the change, we’re here for it.

Jenner’s new color features dark brown roots that melt into a golden, champagne blonde. The brown roots add depth to the hue and give the color a little personality, as though she’s preparing for a role in a ’90s romantic comedy—it’s very Kate Hudson or Gwyneth Paltrow. Colorist Jenna Perry, who has worked with muses like Chloe Sevigny and Kaia Gerber, is credited for the transformation. With the new color came a new, shorter length which sat right at Jenner’s shoulders and featured fresh long layers, courtesy of Jessica Gillin.

In the photos, the 28-year-old looks as though she’s cosplaying Carolyn Bessette Kennedy—she’s wearing a black t-shirt with a black leather blazer and straight-leg dark wash jeans. Paired with her slim “Bayonetta” glasses and hair thrown up in a claw clip, she’s a spitting image of Kennedy’s simple style.

“It took me two days to take her this gorgeous shade of golden blonde,” Perry told Vogue of the change. Speaking of Kennedy, Perry mentioned that Jenner is “really inspired by the ’90s and Caroline Bessette-Kennedy right now.” To keep the model’s hair healthy, Perry opted for Olaplex products and recommends using them for color upkeep.

The reason for Jenner’s change? Unknown to us, but we’re here for it. As a model, it’s fun to see Jenner try on new looks and experiment when she’s in a campaign or on the runway, but it’s even more exciting to see her try to integrate it into her signature style.
