With advanced formulas and a bevy of luxury haircare brands, trying out new cuts and colors has never been easier. Nowadays you can experiment with dye and bleach year-round and still have healthy hair. And what’s more fun than starting a new season with new hair? Clearly, this was Khloé Kardashian’s vibe when she opted for a fun new color for the summer season with a fresh manicure to match.
Khloé is the queen of surprising us with new colors and styles, but her latest feels like a more permanent change. Earlier this Spring, the star debuted a new copper color on Instagram for her Fabletics partnership, but posts after that revealed she went back to her usual blonde. On May 22, however, the star posted a slideshow of photos with the caption “Strawberry Shortcake Vibes,” showing off her new shade.
The vibrant “cowboy copper” has been a super popular shade as of late, but Khloé’s hue is a custom mix of orange and red to create a sunset-inspired shade perfect for her. Tracey Cunningham, the stylist behind the color, explained how she got the look on her Instagram .”Here’s the thing guys, you do not have to do a base color when your client wants to go red because it actually makes it look more real!” She revealed that they started with “very golden” highlights all over and then added gloss to get the perfect strawberry color, using all Redken products.
With a new color, came a new cut. The 39-year-old styled her strawberry shade with super-long extensions, courtesy of Priscilla Valles. Face-framing layers hugged her cheeks and long layers throughout provided dimension and It Girl volume (think: Serena van der Woodsen in her heyday).
Khloe’s all-over glam was also inspired by the strawberry theme. Her strawberry milk nails had a square shape and baby pink shade with a matte-like finish. For makeup, she wore a muted berry shade for blush on her cheeks with a just-bitten lip and fluttery black lashes, courtesy of makeup artist Ash Holm.
Khloé might have unintentionally just started one of the summer’s biggest hair color trends. Strawberry Shortcake red is a softer take on the popular red shades and is undeniably a cute name for a hair trend.
