Mark my words: Moody, wine-stained manicures will be everywhere come fall. Parisian, poppy red nails took over this summer, and for fall, it’s turning into a deeper, merlot-inspired hue that’s equal parts cozy and chic. Kylie Jenner just tried on the shade for her latest manicure, and we’d wager with her co-sign it’s bound to be everywhere come fall.
Jenner posted a photo dump to Instagram yesterday, August 27, which featured selfies of her and her bestie, Anastasia Karanikolaou. Jenner’s new nails were front and center, and her simple no-fuss manicure featured a deep Bordeaux shade that immediately caught our eye.
On her Instagram story, Jenner posted a selfie with the caption “My nails match my wine,” and the side-by-side comparison looked as though she took the shade right from her glass. Zola Ganzorigt confirmed that she was the artist behind the manicure on her social media, but has yet to reveal the exact polish used. She opted for a short square shape and left the color to stand on its own and didn’t add any gems, chromes, or shimmer.
Jenna Ortega recently sported a similar merlot-inspired manicure for her Beetlejuice Beetlejuice press tour, although hers featured a slightly lighter shade than Jenners. Red nails aren’t anything new—they were one of the most popular manicures of the summer—but it’s fun to start playing with cooler fall shades as the season changes.
To pair with her moody wine nails, Jenner wore her hair long and wavy, as though it was air-dried naturally, and stuck to her usual soft glam and nude lip look. She styled a black ruffled Cecilie Bahnsen dress with matching flip flops, which put a a gothy spin on a classic end-of-summer outfit.
It’s shaping up to be a fall full of merlot manicures. Or maybe Kylie Jenner’s just in her goth era? Only time will tell!
