Kylie Jenner’s Latest Makeup Launch Reflects Her “Less Is More” Era

She’s not yet 30 years old, but Kylie Jenner has lived many beauty and style lives. Once Tumblr-inspo royalty—her phase of colorful hair, opaque matte lips, and flawless indie-sleaze ‘fits has been affectionately dubbed the King Kylie years—the Kylie Cosmetics founder has tried everything from opulent chrome manicures to Pamela Anderson-esque updos. But her latest era took many off guard.

We saw hints of the shift earlier in the year when she appeared at Paris Couture Fashion Week with touseled waves and understated makeup, and her latest launch confirms it: Kylie Jenner has gone soft on us. “I’ve been going for a ‘less is more’ beauty look lately, and I think my new Skin Tint Blurring Elixir really reflects that,” she says.

Jenner’s goal with the product, released earlier this summer, was to create “a skin tint that looked and felt like your skin, while also being long-wearing, blurring skin, and smoothing texture.” (Having worn it almost exclusively over a recent beach weekend, I can confirm that the balance between coverage and lightweight comfort is pretty next level.)

About Her Skin Goals

“Recently, I’ve been loving letting my skin breathe and show through my makeup, and my skincare routine has been essential to making sure my skin stays healthy and hydrated. I always cleanse using the Kylie Skin Foaming Face Wash and then moisturize using the Face Moisturizer so that my skin is prepped for makeup—it really is the key to making your makeup look great. And one thing that I’ve gotten better about, especially as I’ve gotten older, is being much more consistent about applying SPF.”

“I’ve been loving all the blush trends recently; a pinky-blush look is my favorite. My Powder Blush Stick in the shade ‘Make Him Blush,’ a beautiful pink-mauve color, has been my go-to lately. It easily blends into the skin and then sets to a really lightweight, soft-matte finish.”

“Makeup has always been a great way to show self-expression–I’m inspired by everything, whether it’s my current mood or if I see a cool visual design that speaks to me. I’ve definitely stripped down a little bit; I don’t wear as many wigs and love a more natural look. I did bring back my pink King Kylie hair a little while ago, which was such a fun moment!”
