Lady Gaga Cosigned Goth Girl Summer With New Jet-Black Hair

On the heels of headlining the Olympics Opening Ceremony in Dior couture and bleached brows and singing in French, no less, Lady Gaga is still full of summer surprises. Her latest? A bold hair transformation that screams “goth girl summer.”

Leave it to Gaga to liven up a slow August afternoon. On August 13, she posted a video on Instagram playing the piano in an oversized t-shirt and comfy shorts, swapping her signature frosty blonde hair for a bold jet-black shade. And, did we mention she’s also teasing a new song with Bruno Mars? Just like us, commenters were shook: “The Bruno Mars shirt GIRL.”

But, this is Byrdie, so her hair change piqued our interest. Besides the upcoming pop-star collab that will surely become a trending TikTok sound, we’re obsessed with her chill approach to hard launching her new hair—there’s no buzzy hairstylist photo in sight. While it’s possibly a wig, her new black hair rested at the tops of her chest, with straight long pieces that framed each side of her temples. Before playing, she does a quick fit-check, making sure to show the camera her Bruno Mars shirt. Another thing we couldn’t help but notice were her sweet blueberry milk nails.

Gaga has been toying with the idea of going full The Fame-mode with a vampy black hair transformation since earlier this spring. At the Chromatica Ball film premiere, she swapped her Old Hollywood blonde for micro-bangs, and throughout her Vegas residency, she rocked black chunky highlights paired with feather mohawks.
