Lady Gaga Wore Bleached Brows and Hot Pink Nails for Her Olympics Opening Ceremony Performance

Who else to better ring in the beginning of a historic summer Olympic Games than Lady Gaga? (The answer is no one). The campy, full-bodied energy Gaga brings to every performance is unparalleled, and coming off of her Las Vegas Jazz and Piano shows, we knew we’d be in for a treat. Of course, she didn’t disappoint—for the Opening Ceremony, the singer donned a hot pink manicure, bleached brows, and lots of pink feathers.

On July 26, Gaga came cascading down a golden staircase on the Square Barye at the Seine river, covered by pink feathers that dramatically opened to reveal her bleached blonde hair and black feathered coat. “Bonsoir!” she exclaimed, leading into her rendition of “Mon truc en plumes” in French. It’s hard to focus on Gaga’s glam when she’s singing in another language covered in sparkles and feathers, but her edgy Old Hollywood makeup and pink manicure were all a part of the performance’s charm.

In case you’re unfamiliar Gaga’s recent aesthetic is Marilyn Monroe meets 2012 Lady Gaga, if you will. Her Vegas shows have included over-the-top feathers, and classic glamour with a touch of quintessential Gaga flair (like chunky black highlights and graphic eyeliner). Her Opening Ceremony performance embodied this, keeping her bleached blonde hair and sweeping it back into a perfectly pinned French twist. She opted for a singular dramatic black feather headpiece, which provided a spotlight on Gaga amongst her pink feather-adorned dancers.

The set design on the Seine was giving Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friend. While dancers can-canned around the singer, her edgy editorial glam reminded us it was Gaga who was performing and not a ’40s starlet. Her bleached brows are a signature to her, and she paired them with a bold red lipstick and hot-pink blush.

To start the show, Gaga was covered in a large black sparkly coat which she dropped to reveal a black corset catsuit with a long matching feather train, flecked with pink feathers. She revealed on Instagram that the looks were custom Dior. Amid the show, she dropped her gloves and revealed a hot pink manicure underneath, which she also wore the day before while signing autographs in Paris.

“I feel so completely grateful to have been asked to open the Paris Olympics 2024 this year,” Gaga wrote in a post on her Instagram. “I am also humbled to be asked by the Olympics organizing committee to sing such a special French song—a song to honor the French people and their tremendous history of art, music, and theatre,” she said.

So far, the Summer Olympics have not disappointed in delivering iconic style moments. We’re not even a day into the games and from Zendaya’s shimmery LBD, Serena Williams’s platinum blonde debut and now Gaga’s pink, edgy spin on Old Hollywood glam, consider us seated for the next month of the games.
