Liu Wen Vogue China June 2024

We don’t know where you’ve been if you weren’t aware that Margaret Zhang is to depart Vogue China as editor-in-chief. Zhang was installed at the helm of the Chinese fashion bible back in 2021, following the exit of the magazine’s long-serving founding editor Angelica Cheung. Zhang kick-started her tenure at Chinese Vogue with newcomer Jinghan Fan and is closing the chapter as editor with one of the country’s most prolific of models: Liu Wen. Across a trio of celebratory and commemorative June 2024 covers, Zhang pays tribute to Chinese creatives and enlists Wing Shya as cover shoot photographer. Shya welcomes us inside Shanghai’s Grand Cinema (built in 1928 by Hungarian architect Laszlo Hudec) for the occasion, complete with Liu Wen styled by Vivienne Sun in a mashup of creations from Samuel Gui Yang, Yirantian, Shushu Tong and Ming Ma.
