Megan Thee Stallion’s Chunky Pastel Highlights Are a Summer Dream

She’s Megan Thee Stallion: Of course she’s going to change up her hair and nails every week. The beauty chameleon always keeps us on our toes. This time, she’s tapping into summer’s most unexpected hair trend and making it all her own.

On July 16, the Megan singer posted a slideshow of selfies to Instagram while in London for the U.K. leg of her Hot Girl Summer Tour. It had all the elements of a classic Meg photoshoot. In the mirror selfies, she featured her Hello Kitty phone case, bold manicure, and bold “skunk” hair with pastel hues.

The skunk hair trend includes color-blocking light and dark shades using chunky highlights that frame the face. It was a popular look in the 2000s, and gets its name from looking like a skunk’s stripes. Typically, the silhouette features a black stripe in blonde hair, but Megan gave the style a modern refresh. Her front pieces featured a pretty shade of pastel pink, and the rest of her hair was dyed a lavender shade. She messily swept it back in a claw clip, leaving the two front bubblegum pieces out as a statement pop of color.

Megan often opts for bold hair transformations, but surprisingly, skunk hair and chunky highlights are trickling back into the mainstream this summer. Miley Cyrus put her spin on the trend with a nostalgic Hannah Montana-inspired look, and Rihanna added bold blonde highlights to her brown hair for Paris Fashion Week.

With her chunky highlights, frameless sunglasses, and long square nails, its as though Meg walked right out of the early 2000s. To pair with her Y2K hair, the 29-year-old opted for a soft glam makeup look that included a brown lip and fluffy black lashes.
