Natalie Portman’s Gold French Manicure Is a Sparkly Twist on a Classic

Sometimes, the best manicure inspiration comes as a surprise. Someone you didn’t expect will have the coolest nails, or you’ll notice a design you haven’t seen in a while that brings a dose of creativity when you need it the most. Case in point: Natalie Portman’s shiny twist on the classic French manicure—perfect for Paris Fashion Week.

Portman arrived at the Dior Spring/Summer 2025 show on September 25, dressed head-to-toe in the brand. But, if you look closely, you’ll notice her chic manicure: The actor swapped classic white tips for a shimmery metallic polish for a nail look that’s equal parts low-key and cool.

The hint of shine in an otherwise unsuspecting manicure is what makes it so fun. At first, it looks like a regular French design, but her gold tips add a trendy and edgy feel. Portman tried the look on a short almond shape, using a milky sheer base and a shimmery gold polish for the tips, contrasting her outfit’s silver accents. A glossy top coat gave the look another layer of shine.

She styled the edgy manicure with a sporty-grunge look from the brand, which followed the aesthetic of the new collection. A lace-up black top, gemstone-encrusted bubble skirt, and knee-high black motorcycle boots made up her outfit.

Of course, Portman’s outfit was the statement of her look, so her makeup was more pared-back. She swept her hair into a sophisticated low bun which she paired with a glowy complexion, black fluffy lashes, and a pink lip combo.

After always seeing sheer milky looks and red polish at events, it’s refreshing to see Portman disrupt the current minimalist norm. And, although her nails are still relatively easygoing, adding the metallic tips is an easy way to switch things up. It’s safe to say we’ll be copying her nails all fall long.
