On August 30, Rodrigo hard-launched her relationship with actor Louis Partridge at the Venice Film Festival, putting their soft goth spin on couples dressing with a black and white palette. For the occasion, Rodrigo wore a timeless red manicure and styled it with a swept-back top knot.

If we had to list the two beauty trends that took over red carpets this summer, it would go to none other than prom updos and red manicures. Bella Hadid perfected the flouncy updo at the Cannes Film Festival, and everyone (literally) put their spin on the red nail trend. Rather than try on a quirky shade of red, Rodrigo kept it simple—she wore a quintessential red shade of polish on her natural nails, pairing it with a similar color of red lipstick. And, that’s it! The look was nothing revolutionary but proves you can never go wrong with the less is more approach.

Even Rodrigo’s take on the prom updo was refined. She parted her hair down the center and swept it back into a high bun, with a few wavy pieces left out to frame her face. The rest of the makeup, as you can probably guess, was pared-back with mascara and a chic winged liner to go with her statement lip look.
