Rihanna’s Edgy Blonde Mullet Is This Summer’s Biggest Hair Change

If my boyfriend were to chop a mullet right now, it would be so over. It’s just not the haircut for him! But, when Rihanna does it, of course, I’m in awe. It goes without saying that the icon can make any look her own. (At this point, her hair transformations are how I keep track of the seasons.) In her latest hair chameleon efforts, she gives the edgy haircut the Rihanna treatment.

The ANTI singer is usually quiet on social media but has been treating us to fun videos and campaigns as of late. Yesterday, July 23, she posted a reel posing for selfies and trotting around a city, flashing the camera with a black bra and underwear. “Since I clearly won’t be achieving my six pack til next summer, I switched my summer goal to matching my shoes to my panties,” she captioned the photo. It was very iconic, and the casual mullet hard-launch makes the video even more so.

The 36-year-old traded her natural curls for a side-swept honey-blonde mullet. She parted her hair to the left and a longer front bang rested right at her ear, with the choppy back pieces laying at the bottom of her neck. On her right side, she opted for an undercut creating a half-mullet, if you will. The video’s lighting also made her blonde appear much lighter and sun-kissed than before. It was very much giving Rated R-era RiRi, only blonde.

In the video, she’s wearing a blue collared shirt loosely buttoned with a black balconette bra underneath, adding a bit of grunge to the polished feel of the shirt (think: Serena after a night out in Gossip Girl ). She paired it with a pleated plaid skirt, chunky black sneakers, lots of jewelry, large rimless glasses, and a tiny Louis Vuitton purse.
