Selena Gomez Can’t Stop Wearing This Classic Summer Manicure

When you think of what was the trendiest manicure of summer 2024, you might guess glazed donut nails, velvet designs, or gemstone-encrusted manicures, but none have been as popular as red nails. From Bella Hadid to Jenna Ortega and now Selena Gomez (again!), the simple nail look is nothing groundbreaking, but its rise in popularity has felt so unexpected. No matter the case, we’re here for the classic shade’s revival.

On August 22, Gomez arrived at the Only Murders in the Building premiere party in Los Angeles wearing (you guessed it) a red manicure. We give her credit for launching the summer of red nails, donning a Parisian red shade at Cannes earlier this year, which was perfectly matched to her dress. This time around, her manicure added the tiniest pop of sophisticated color to her Self Portrait LBD.

Crafted by her go-to manicurist, Tom Bachik, the actor stuck to her usual almond nail shape that, combined with the crimson shade of red, made for an elevated mani. The manicurist revealed in an Instagram post that the exact shade was Aprés Hearts and Likes, captioning the post “Sexy, chic, and sophisticated…red nails say it all.” It’s true! What more is there to say?

For the evening, Gomez might have kept her go-to manicure as of late, but she switched it up on the hair front. Hairstylist Marissa Marino crafted an elegant low bun with a sleek slicked-back side part that matched her manicure’s rich Manhattan mom energy. Melissa Murdick did Gomez’s makeup, which included a statement smoky eye and a pink lip look, pairing it with soft bronzed skin.

Sometimes all you need is the classics like red nails and a little LBD to have the perfect night-out look. Thanks to Gomez, the red nail trend isn’t going away anytime soon.
