Are you a fan of simple, pared-back manicures? Selena Gomez certainly is. Neutral nail lovers, look no further than Gomez for chic and easygoing manicure inspiration. The multi-hyphenate continually makes classic styles feel exciting, and her latest manicure breathes new life into a classic summer shade.
On July 18, Gomez and her glam squad posted a handful of behind-the-scenes photos of the star to Instagram. The 31-year-old looked radiant ahead of the celebrations for her new Rare Beauty product launch, a tinted pressed powder. Our favorite part of the look? Her soft pink manicure.
Her go-to nail artist Tom Bachik gave the full breakdown of how he crafted the nails on Instagram. He started by soaking Gomez’s old set of nails off and applying the Aprés Neutrals Gel-X Maisie Natural Medium Coffin Tips. Next, the manicurist shaped her nails into his signature medium-length oval shape and applied Aprés Gel Couleur in Forgotten Film, a sheer pink your-nails-but-better shade. To add an extra dose of shine Bachik then added the Kokoist Ultra Glossy Non-Wipe Top Coat. The last step is what he calls a “Cuticle cocktail for the woman of the hour:” He rehydrated her nails with the Aprés Cuticle Serum in Winter Returns and nourished her hands with La Mer’s luxurious The Hand Treatment.
The Rare Beauty founder worked with go-to makeup artist Hung Vanngo to create her celebratory glam (and we’d wager he used the new Rare Beauty True To Myself Tinted Pressed Powder to achieve her blurred complexion). Gomez’s smoky eye just screams summer, and it was the standout of her glam. Vanngo used a champagne shade across her lid, smoking a grey shade out into her upper crease and on the bottom of her lash line to create depth and a subtle smoky eye. The makeup artist paired the shadow with wispy lashes and no eyeliner to soften things, then completed the look with rosy blush and pink lipgloss. The result is a quintessential soft glam glow.
Parted down the center, Gomez’s hair was teased into voluminous waves for that just-got-back-from-the-beach look that’s as effortless as it is cool, courtesy of hairstylist Marissa Marino.
As per usual, commenters raved on Bachik’s post over Gomez’s new low-key manicure. “Tom PLEASE tell her to post these on her feed,” one said. Another applauded the nail’s perfect summer shade: “The perfect neutral!!.” Light pink nails are a summer staple, and Gomez’s new manicure is further proof of the style’s seasonal superiority.
