Selena Gomez’s Emmys Hair Was All About “Effortless Elegance”

At tonight’s 76th Emmy Awards, we’re taking advice from the wise Nicki Minaj who said it best: “You gotta keep an eye out for Seleneer,” AKA, Selena Gomez. Of course, we’re always excited for a Gomez appearance—she always turns a look—but tonight is especially exciting for the star who’s nominated for her Hulu hit Only Murders in the Building.

The 2024 Emmy Awards are taking place tonight, September 15, in Los Angeles, and for the occasion, Gomez stuck to her current go-to red-carpet formula. She arrived wearing a simple and refined Ralph Lauren gown adorned with a sparkly neckline, paired with movie star hair.

Gomez’s soft, shiny, no-fuss hairstyle was the statement of her look, which complemented the sophisticated feel of her gown. “We were inspired by her Ralph Lauren Gown and our vibe for the night was effortless elegance and high shine,” the actor’s hairstylist, Marissa Marino, tells Byrdie. “We also wanted to make sure her hair was off her shoulders to let the dress neckline shine on the carpet.”

To get the look, Marino applied the FEKKAI Brilliant Glossing Styling Créme to Gomez’s hair and brushed it through. Next, she blow-dried the hair straight adding the FEKKAI Brilliant Gloss Glass Hair Anti-Frizz Oil Serum, and created some bounce by curling the ends. She finished the look with the FEKKAI Clean Stylers Flexi-Hold Hairspray. It was giving leading lady, movie star glamour.

“A major tip for when you are trying to recreate the look at home would be to make sure you are getting all of the moisture out of the hair when you are blow drying,” instructs Marino. “Making sure the hair is fully dry gets rid of any potential frizz. Also prepping the hair with the right products to ensure it has moisture before drying allows you to achieve the shiniest blowout.”

The actor stuck to her usual soft-glam approach, opting for a bronzy, smoked-out shadow look topped with a long wing and wispy lashes. Her neutral, bronzy makeup was paired with a rosy pink luminescent blush and a nude lip gloss.

As expected, she coordinated her nails with her glam, opting for a glossy nude shade of polish on her signature almond shape that we’ll be copying all fall long.
