One of the best things anyone in the skincare world ever did was create the Hydro-Star pimple patch—and all that credit goes to Starface. All of a sudden, you could be kind to your skin while looking incredibly cute, shrinking spots while you accessorized. And that adorable little compact? Forget about it.
Still, there are times when you just don’t want to walk around with colorful stars on your face. (Albeit rare, it does happen!!) For those very moments, a new icon has entered the Starface galaxy. Launching July 31, Hydro-Star Clear combines the brand’s cult-favorite hydrocolloid patches with an invisible finish so you have a colorway for any and every mood or occasion.
“Starface is for every person and every spot,” Kara Brothers, President of Starface, tells Byrdie. “Our mission is to help our customers always feel cute and confident in their skin; sometimes that might look like a colorful star and other times it may look more lowkey.”
Ahead, everything you need to know about the brand’s latest pimple patch.
The Inspiration
While completely invisible, Starface kept their signature star shape for the new launch. Cuteness and care aren’t mutually exclusive, remember?
“The launch of Hydro-Star Clear gives our customers the fullest possible spectrum to express themselves and wear Starface exactly how they want,” says Brothers. “We consistently hear from students who aren’t allowed to wear Starface at school and need an alternative for acne treatment. Others might be after a more chill vibe. Whatever the reason, Clear gives everyone the ability to embrace Starface their way.”
The Formula
Hydro-Star Clear works just like any other hydro-star you’ve ever tried—simply apply a star to a pimple and let it do its thing. Like their predecessors, the new stars are “formulated with [Starface’s] award-winning 100% hydrocolloid formula that is designed to absorb fluid, reduce redness, and protect skin from outside bacteria and picking,” notes Brothers.
One thing is new, though. A “big” size—18mm—has joined its classic (14mm) and XL (20mm) sisters for extra convenience. Inside each pack, you’ll find a total of 32 stars: 16 regular and 16 big.
Look at the stars! Look how they shine for you. (Sorry Coldplay, but they weren’t all yellow.)
