Vanessa Hudgens’ Summer Nails Look Like Actual Gemstones

The cat-eye nails trend fits right into fashion and beauty’s current obsession with futurism. From chrome nails to silver fashion, the otherworldly aesthetic has suddenly made its way into all of our lives (and closets) at one point or another. A divergence from minimalistic manicures but not as over-the-top as 3D diamond-encrusted sets, cat-eye or velvet nails are the perfect balance of eye-catching and uncomplicated. Because of this, the style isn’t going anywhere, and Vanessa Hudgens is the latest celebrity to take part in the trend.

The actor’s go-to nail artist, Zola Ganzorigt, shared a first look at the manicure on her Instagram. The duo opted for a mauve purple base on Hudgens’ natural, coffin-shaped nails. Each finger is topped with a silvery-purple cat-eye, creating a mirror-like effect with a metallic finish. In the video, Hudgens is moving her perfectly-manicured nails around to make sure we got a good look at how the nails can be manipulated by light. As the actor moves into her mom-era (she and her husband welcomed their first baby on July 4), the mauve color with the natural length feels both glamorous and soft.

To achieve the cat-eye illusion, a diagonal metallic line is painted across the nail. There are many ways to recreate the look though. Magnetic nail polish makes it easy to mimic as the magnet shape shifts the polish to create the illusion.

Ganzorigt is a top celebrity nail artist with a rolodex of high-profile clients like Hailey Bieber, Adele, and several Kardashians. She has repeatedly put together chic manicure moments for Hudgens including an ombre glazed set at the Oscars. Hudgens rarely shies away from fun nails. In a birthday post to the High School Musical star, Ganzorigt wrote there’s never a dull moment with Hudgens, and that applies to her manicures, too.
