Brow trends come and go. Laminated brows, 2016 brows, soap brows, skinny brows—we’ve been through the trenches. But through it all, one brand has been the gold standard when it comes to everything eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills.
Founded by brow whisperer Anastasia Soare, the brand has always understood the sacred—and complicated—art of brows. I was 14 when I stole my sister’s Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade and dramatically carved out my brows with a dollar store concealer. These days, though, I’m into more of a natural and fluffy brow.
For that, we have Anastasia Beverly Hill’s newest launch to try. Launching September 5, the Volumizing Tinted Brow Gel is the brand’s latest addition to its legendary brow collection. Ahead, everything you need to know about the launch, and team Byrdie’s honest reviews.
The Product
“When a new Supreme rises, the old one fades away,” the brand wrote on TikTok when a beauty influencer asked why its Dipbrow Gel disappeared from the Internet. Whereas the old supreme—the Dipbrow Gel—is a fully-pigmented formula with a pine cone-shaped applicator, the brand’s new release has a more buildable formula and a custom-designed brush. “It’s ideal for all skill levels, especially brow beginners,” Soare tells Byrdie.
Featuring a water-resistant mousse formula, the Volumizing Tinted Brow Gel comes in nine shades, with warm, cool, and neutral tones considered. It has a matte but natural finish to add definition and volume to the brow. “I especially love the Volumizing Tinted Brow Gel for fine, light-colored, and patchy brows,” Soare told Byrdie. “You can even use it to cover gray hairs and color-correct for your perfect brow shade.”
When it comes to brow gels, the applicator is just as important as the formula. “I custom-designed this precision brush, making it easy to apply for everyone,” says Soare. The long bristles “tint and volumize the hairs from root to tip, and the short bristles coat the skin and add extra detail and definition.” By combining functionality with versatility, the dual-action brush is meant to provide natural but precise brow coverage.
The Reviews

“As a fluffy brow fanatic, I’m usually intimidated by brow gels with a tint. This one, though, isn’t something to be scared of. The applicator is tiny, which means it allows for super precise application, and it deposits just the right amount of pigment. Formula-wise, it has a natural finish, and it fills in patchy spots with a few swipes. As with most brow gels, though, the hold is somewhat stiff, which might not be for everyone. That being said, I can easily see myself reaching for this as an on-the-go brow hero.”

“I religiously use the Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel, so I was excited to put the tinted formula to the test. To be honest, I rarely apply color to my brows other than the occasional flick of a pencil in a sparse area. So in the spirit of taking baby steps, I applied very light layers of this tinted formula to create the exact level of impact that I wanted. I used the shade Taupe, which matched my normal brow shade from the brand. The formula has the same staying power that we know and love and the color added extra definition to my everyday look.”

“Confession: Colored brow gels are my mortal makeup enemy. I just can’t achieve precision with them—I have yet to meet one that doesn’t make me look like I stuck two caterpillars on my forehead and called it a day. As such, I usually try not to review them. BUT, I ride so hard for Anastasia’s Brow Products that I decided to give this one a go. And I’m happy I did! The lil comb on the applicator makes it much easier to get a cleaner brow look. It’s on the smaller side with wider teeth, so it doesn’t pick up too much product. I’ll definitely continue playing with this one, especially on the days I want a bushier brow.”

“Anastasia Beverly Hills is one of *the* go-to brow brands for a reason, and this new gel doesn’t disappoint. It comes in a range of tints to closely match your shade, and the spoolie brush quickly and efficiently distributes the product for a visible, defined result. I wiped off part of it afterwards because I found it to be a bit intense on my naturally bold brows, but if eyebrow enhancement is your thing, you’ll certainly love this gel.”

“I have to admit, I typically avoid brow gels as I find that they clump my hairs together, feel gooey, and just don’t provide the fluffy vibes I’m aiming for. However, ABH’s latest tinted brow gel may have made me a convert. First of all, I adore the teeny tiny brush applicator. It made it super easy to target the sparser areas of my brows. Secondly, the formula held my brows without giving that stiff or crunchy feel/look. I will say, I found that a little product goes a long way. So, if you’re looking for a more subtle brow, like me, try scraping some of the excess product off the wand against the opening of the tube before application.”
