The fashion and beauty didn’t disappoint at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The Queen of Cannes, Bella Hadid, returned to the red carpet wearing archival Versace, while Naomi Campbell arrived in a 20-year-old Chanel gown. Michelle Yeoh wore a cool fringed Bottega Veneta look, and Joey King chopped a fresh bob between carpets. We could go on and on, but no look was as ethereal, summery, and sweet as Elle Fanning’s.
On May 25, Fanning attended the closing ceremony for the festival in a ’70s-inspired daisy printed sheer Gucci gown, fresh off the brand’s 2025 Cruise show. The dress was pleated and flowy, and looked like it came straight from the costume department from Once Upon A Time In Hollywood in the best way. The actor accessorized the look with only a subtle watch and diamond earrings, but the best accessory of all was her pretty blue eyeshadow.
Fanning posted a close-up of her beauty on Instagram with the caption “Brought the ’70s to the 77th annual Cannes film festival.” Her turquoise blue shadow was applied super sheer all over her lid which gave her glam an effortless feel. The color perfectly complimented Fanning’s green eyes and added a retro touch to the fairy-core vibe of her gown. And, lucky for you, we know the exact shade makeup artist Erin Ayanian Monroe used to get the look: She applied L’Oreal’s Color Riche Eye Pocket Palette Eye Shadow ($15) in Avant Garde Azure.
Speaking of, Monroe used all L’Oreal Paris products for Fanning’s fresh look. To prep her skin, Monroe used the Revitalift Derm Intensives 1.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum ($13) and Revitalift Derm Intensives 2.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Eye Serum ($18) to create a glowy, hydrated base. A wash of Infallible 24HR Fresh Wear Blush ($16) in Fearless Coral livened her cheeks with a pink glow. The viral True Match Lumi Glotion Natural Glow Enhancer ($17) in Fair added an extra dose of glow, and Monroe matched the coral blush with the Glow Paradise Lip Balm-in-Gloss ($11) in Angelic Daydream.
Fanning’s golden blonde hair (which, in case you missed it, is the trendiest shade for summer) rested just above her shoulders. Adding to the boho vibe, she parted her hair down the middle and her long bob flipped up at the ends.
Even though Fanning’s blue eyeshadow sounds on paper like it would be in-your-face, it was very minimal and looked so natural on the star. Eyeshadow is easy to forget in our day-to-day routines, but the 26-year-old’s look proves a pop of color it can be the perfect finishing touch to any summer look.
