Zendaya’s Summer Manicure Is Like a Tiny Little Garden

No matter where Zendaya is headed, she’s going to turn a look. Be it a red carpet, casual date night, or airport fit, we can expect her to show up with a coveted archival piece, glowy makeup, and a perfect manicure. Usually, she keeps her nails simple and classic, but from time to time she likes to play with something more adventurous like her red-hot vacation nails or long gold chrome set for the Dune Two press tour.

Her most recent manicure is also a departure from her usual milky shades and micro French tips. On August 7, Marina Dobic, Zendaya’s London-based nail artist, shared the latest look she created for the actor. She filed Zendaya’s natural nails into a medium-length and square shape with soft edges. She started by applying a classic micro French, with a shiny nude base and dainty white tips.

Here’s where things get interesting—Dobic then painted colorful flower and tiny bug details on Zendaya’s nails. Each nail was a little different, with blue, purple, yellow, and pink flowers scattered throughout. Some nails included teeny tiny bumble bee and ladybug details. Dobic didn’t share any of the products she used to create the look, but she did share that she used hard gel to “keep the nails strong and healthy,” and used her gold manicure technique to prep the nails.

Dainty nail art on a nude base seems to be a major trend this summer. Earlier in the season, Kylie Jenner debuted a “summer garden” manicure that featured hand-painted bug details on a nude base. Later, she wore a nude mani embellished with colorful flowers that almost looked like they were floating on her nails. Hailey Bieber also wore a similar look with her “farmers’ market” nails: sheer pink nails decorated with tiny fruits and veggies.

Part of this style’s appeal is that you can easily recreate it without the help of a pro. All you need is your favorite nude polish and some fun nail stickers, and you have a mani worthy of Zendaya.
