Zendaya’s Summer Manicure Is Unexpectedly Bright

Nothing screams summer like a bright manicure, and bold, popsicle-hued neons are one of the season’s biggest nail trends. From Brat green to Hailey Bieber’s fluorescent orange mani, there’s something so fun and carefree about a statement-making nail look that can be achieved with just polish. The latest neon manicure we’re adding to our mood board comes from Zendaya, who put her stamp of approval on the trend.

We haven’t seen much from Zendaya since the Met Gala, and after her lengthy Challengers press run earlier this spring, we can’t blame her. Still, a girl needs a manicure, even on her summer vacation. On July 9, her go-to manicurist, Marina Dobic, posted the actor’s latest nail look to Instagram, featuring a fire hydrant red shade perfect for summer.

The 27-year-old opted for square-shaped nails with a crimson-red shade of polish. The red hue has orange undertones, which gives it a classic summery feeling. And, that’s it—her polished was topped off with an extra glossy top coat that provided plenty of shine.

“How gorgeous this red looks on her,” wrote Dobic in the caption. “We did gel tip extensions which I don’t usually do, literally have no practice with but, they turned out beautifully. Definitely easier to apply than classic gel extensions and gel tips are soak off which makes the removal process easier and safer.”

We predicted earlier in the year that bold hues would dominate nail trends throughout the warmer season: Nail artist Jin Soon Choi previously told Byrdie that popsicle-stained inspired shades are “vibrant and lively, capturing the essence of summer unlike anything else,” and that she particularly loves a “hot orange-red shade.”
